Asana

Posture.

This limb is the most known limb in the West – and to most people yoga equals asana practice. This is far from true, but the rebuilding of the body and the cleansing of the intestines that are so profound in asana practice makes this limb very important in practicing the other limbs. If you have a sore back or a kidney injury, practicing anything else but lying on the couch is a hassle. Especially if you are not a skilled or trained yogi. Asana practice is therefore a great place for most people to begin their yoga journey.
